Meet The Doctors

Dr. Sara Kim

Dr. Yun (Sara) Kim is a board-certified pediatric dentist who joined our practice in 2022. A native of South Korea, she immigrated to the United States when she was seven years old, where she grew up in Suwanee, Georgia, about an hour outside of Atlanta. Drawn to both the challenges and rewards inherent in the dental profession, she earned her dental degree from Tufts University after studying microbiology as an undergraduate at the University of Georgia. She also completed a pediatric dental residency at New York University’s Langone Medical Center.

Dr. Kim loves working as a dentist because every day on the job — and every patient — is unique. A kid at heart herself, she chose to specialize in pediatric dentistry because she has so much fun working with children, who, as she says, are spontaneous, resilient, and really funny! She especially enjoys opportunities to serve children with special needs and help their parents develop customized treatment approaches to support their future well-being. For all patients, she places a strong emphasis on oral health education for both parent and child so that each patient gets to develop strong oral health hygiene habits from a young age.

Outside of the office, Dr. Kim loves to spend time with her husband (a dental hygienist!) and their two rescue dogs. Together, they enjoy hiking, traveling, and exploring new cities.

Dr. Prachi Chandalia

Dr. Prachi Chandalia is a board-certified pediatric dentist at Hero Pediatric Dentistry. She earned her dental degree from Charles University, First Faculty of Medicine in the Czech Republic, where she graduated joint first in her class. After receiving her Doctorate of Dental Medicine, Dr. Prachi worked as a general dentist in Salisbury, England, home to the famous Stonehenge. She then continued working in London, England, treating both adults and children. During her time in London, she set up a free clinic called Saturday Smile as a way of serving her local community. Her experience in England shaped her approach to care, engendering a profound commitment to prevention-based dentistry, and an enduring respect for the patient’s needs, preferences, and beliefs.

She followed her lifelong dream of becoming a pediatric dentist by completing an additional two years of training at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey. During her specialty training, Dr. Prachi had extensive exposure to all aspects of pediatric dentistry, including emergency care, the care of patients with special healthcare needs and treatment of children requiring general anesthesia and sedation.

Over the years, Dr. Prachi has made every effort to extend her services to those in need. She has volunteered in developing countries in dental and family health clinics as part of her commitment to ensuring access to dental care for all children. She will always treat your children with the experience of a pediatric dentist but with the heart of a mom. She is excited to meet all of the families at Hero Pediatric dentistry!

Dr. Prachi lives with her family in Washington D.C. She loves to travel and visit new countries. She loves to cook and likes to discover new improv comedy in the greater Washington area.
